SURE SHOT! Troy Ave - 2 Legit 2 Quit

What's woody wood, grasshoppers?

I don't rock with today's rap music for various reasons, but I fucks with Troy Ave's new banga 2 Legit 2 Quit

The track is pretty much about the infamous shooting that happened at Irving Plaza in NYC two years ago...the comic strip in the video is a dope concept...he also lick shots at TaxstoneJoe Budden, Mysonne, Cassanova 2X, and his ex BSB homies

If you're unfamiliar with the unfortunate event @ Irving Plaza, CLICK HERE and read

In the meanwhile, CLICK HERE to listen to the song that I have on repeat, or peep the video below

Hot 97 Freestyle of the Year

What's woody wood, grasshoppers?

The holy trinity of radio show freestyle is up for debate...

...and that debate is between Mysonne, Loaded Lux, and Black Thought for the crown of the Hot 97 Freestyle hosted by Funk Flex

Mysonne stepped up to the plate and impressed the hell outta listeners, then Lux came along and challenged the crown

But Black Thought tho?

Yoooooooooooooo

Shout out to these three brothas tho, because whomever you think had the best rhyme in this era of style over substance, those freestyles were MUCH needed

Click the links and peep game

Hassan "Poppy" Campbell Calls out Mysonne

What's woody wood, grasshoppers?

Poppy, an activist from NYC who exposed Zulu Nation leader Afrika Bambataa for sexually molesting him and other teens in The Bronx and abroad, is calling out rapper Mysonne

For what?

To step his muthafuckin' activism game up

You see, Mysonne had once called out T.I. for allegedly snitching to get off light for a gun charge, told Troy Ave that he's a "bozo," and called Harlem hustler Alpo a snitch which subsequently led to a beef with Alpo's son, Popperazzi Po

But Mysonne didn't say shit about Afrika Bambaataa as far as sexually molesting boys...
...allegedly

This old head back in the day had told me that Afrika Bambaataa is gay...I didn't believe it...I'm not from NYC, so I didn't know about the rumors of Bam molesting boys...so when Poppy and Ron Savage aka B Stinger had put Bambaataa on blast about the reported transgressions, I was surprised

Funny thing is...

...Hip-Hop aren't bringing heat on Afrika Bambaataa to face the music and answer to those allegations; not through the media by the way of a press release, but in person

I'd met Afrika Bambataa in 2007 in the South Bronx at a rec center...the joint was the Zulu Nation anniversary...he seemed to be a cool dude...I had asked him how he felt about rappers like Common and T.I sampling his songs at the time

Bam was like...

"It's cool. That what happens in Hip-Hop"

Bam seemed to be an okay guy

So on the strength of that, I was more than shocked when I heard the news about Bam sexually molesting boys dating back to the 80s

Anywho, peep the clip below of Poppy not only calling out Mysonne, but also Don Diva magazine co-founder Kevin Chiles and Nation of Islam leader  Minister Louis Farrakhan for not putting the pressure on Bam

Looks like nobody in Hip-Hop wanna touch those charges, pun intended

What's woody wood, grasshoppers?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdMlZxHLM8w

5. Nuthin' But A G-Thang - The track that gave birth to the second Golden Age of Hip-Hop (1992-1996) at a time when rap wasn't sure if it wanted to dance, be conscious, or go gangster

Aight, family

Those are my five most important moments in Hip-Hop

Until then...

Kendrick Lamar RUNS New York

What’s woody wood, grasshoppers???

The buzz about Kendrick Lamar’s verse is annoying as fuck

Yeah, it’s dope…and I’m glad that mainstream America is finally giving lyricism it’s due after dumbing down itself by jerking off to the beat…but the rhyme is a bit overhyped…straight up and down

Headz are acting like he’s the second coming of Rakim by the way they’re reacting to his verse...I mean, pump the fuckin' brakes...let it breathe for a second

Then again, K Lamar is from the West Coast, and they haven't been relevant since Dub C was C-Walkin' on stage at the Up In Smoke Tour...ha ha!

Anyway...

Headz got the “appreciating the sun after watching it rain for 90 days” syndrome…yes, the rhyme is a breather of fresh air, but I’m not gonna bust a nut over one verse…I’ve been listening to Hip-Hop since the 80s, so I’m not gonna cream in my pants over a rhyme from a newbie who’s taking advantage of the circumstance that mainstream rap is the brown juice that’s leaking from the garbage truck

The flip side is that K Lamar is pushing rappers and MCs to push their pens to the limit…and yes, there IS a difference between rappers and MCs…if you don’t know and claim to be a Hip-Hopper, do the Lord’s favor and kill ya’self

Aight, ya'll

Peep the lyrics below and judge for yourself

Full Verse:

Tell Flex to drop a bomb on this shit
So many bombs, ring the alarm like Vietnam in this shit
So many bombs, make Farrakhan think Saddam in this bitch
One at a time, I line ‘em up and bomb on they mom while she watchin’ the kids
I’m in a destruction mode if the gold exists
I’m important like the pope, I’m a Muslim on pork
I’m Makaveli’s offspring, I’m the king of New York
King of the Coast, one hand, I juggle them both
The juggernaut’s all in your jugular, you take me for jokes
Live in the basement, church pews and funeral faces
Cartier bracelets for my women friends, I’m in Vegas
Who the fuck y’all thought it’s supposed to be?
If Phil Jackson came back, still no coachin’ me
I’m un-coachable, I’m unsociable Fuck y’all clubs,
Fuck y’all pictures, your Instagram can gobble these nuts
Gobble dick up ’til you hiccup, my big homie Kurupt
This the same flow that put the rap game on a crutch
I’ve seen niggas transform like villain Decepticons
Molly’s a prolly turn these niggas to fuckin’ Lindsay Lohan
A bunch of rich ass white girls lookin’ for parties
Playin with Barbies, wreck the Porsche before you give ‘em the car key
Judge me ’til the monarchy, blessings to Paul McCartney
You called me a black Beetle, I’m either that or a Marley
(I don’t smoke crack motherfucker I sell it)
I’m dressed in all black, this is not for the fan of Elvis
I’m aimin’ straight for your pelvis, you can’t stomach me
You plan on stumpin’ me? Bitch I’ve been jumped before you put a gun on me
Bitch I put one on yours, I’m Sean Connery
James Bonding with none of you niggas, climbing 100 mil in front of me
And I’m gon get it even if you’re in the way
And if you’re in it, better run for pete’s sake
I heard the barbershops be in great debates all the time
Bout who’s the best MC? Kendrick, Jigga and Nas
Eminem, Andre 3000, the rest of yall?
New niggas just new niggas, don’t get involved
And I ain’t rockin no more designer shit
White T’s and Nike Cortez, this is red Corvettes anonymous
I’m usually homeboys with the same niggas I’m rhymin wit
But this is hip hop and them niggas should know what time it is
And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big KRIT, Wale
Pusha T, Meek Mills, A$AP Rocky, Drake
Big Sean, Jay electron’, Tyler, Mac Miller

I got love for you all but I’m tryna murder you niggas
Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you niggas
They dont wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you niggas
What is competition? I’m tryna raise the bar high
Who tryna jump and get it? You all better off tryna skydive
Out the exit window of 5 G5’s with 5 grand
With your granddad as the pilot he drunk as fuck tryna land
With the hand full of arthritis and popping prosthetic leg
Bumpin Pac in the cockpit so the shit that pops in his head
Is an option of violence, someone heard the stewardess said
That your parachute is a latex condom hooked to a dread

Peace
